What you Should Know about Treaties & Huron County

November 22 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Menesetung Bridge

An introduction on where to start  and what settlers should know about Treaties in our area, presented by the museum’s Curator of Engagement & Dialogue, Sinead Cox.

This presentation provides a brief overview of the history of treaties in the region, focusing on the treaties that impact what are currently the settler municipal boundaries of Huron County. It explores the violations of treaty rights and established procedures, while emphasizing that treaties are not merely historical documents—they represent ongoing, legally binding responsibilities and rights. This session highlights the relevance of treaties today and their lasting significance. This event will be hosted in-person in the museum theatre. Pre-registration is not required, but seating is limited.

This event is FREE, if you would also like to visit the museum, regular admission is required (FREE with your membership or library card).

This presentation is also available for outreach, along with a selection of other outreach presentations you can request for your group or club. Outreach presentations are available virtually, or  Museum staff will travel throughout the county, pending availability. Contact museum [@] huroncounty.ca for more information or to request museum staff attend your next meeting or event!
